The door to his right and left slid open suddenly. The room erupted in bright Energy discharges of weapons fire. Tom barely had time to yell "look out" before he was hit in his shoulder and dropped. He grimaced in pain and was sweating. He fired and took out an enemy solider before he passed out. (Reply: None) (Posted by: Bill W.) ----- (Alien Station, aCEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras, Day 1, 2144) Once all the enemy were neutralized, and he checked to make sure they were indeed alive, Tho'var took a few seconds to look at the stunned alien bodies. They felt like a burden to him, the burden of having made a choice, a choice he wasn't at all proud of. "Is everyone all right?" Sanok asked He couldn't stop but think for a second how is people would have condoned the use of violence. Yet, he drove the thought away. There was no need to fuel his own pain. Yes, sir," said James. "We're glad to see both of you. Have you seen anyone else?" Tho'var turned away from their bodies and looked at the different exit, making sure no one else was coming. "We have not," said Sanok. "Kevras, you and James check on the aliens below and make sure we immobilized all of them. Also, Mister Kevras, see if you can tell what type of control center this is." "They are, I've already checked. They are alive and stunned. They shouldn't wake for several hours, or a few if they have good constitution." Then Tho'var moved toward the console, a few level down. He thought that during the time he checked what those console were, it would prevent him from thinking about what had happened. The chair wasn't the most comfortable, It was quite low which make access to the screen rather difficult to access. He looked for a control to increase the level of the chair, but didn't find any. It took him at least a good three seconds to examine the chair with both his hands before he finally gave up. Instead of losing time on a chair, he realized he would be better standing up. That was still odd. From what he have seen, the alien were rather all short. Perhaps they had longer arms....that he hadn't bother to check each time he encountered one of them. He did not bother again now. Another thing was odd. Using the Universal Translator, he had expected to work immediately. He had already talked with the aliens at least two times, so the translator had already translated their language. However, when he tried to translate the console controls, it took the Universal Translator several seconds before it could make sense of it. As if the language used was different from the language the guard used. In order circumstances, he would have quickly concluded the aliens were using many dialects. Humans were known to have several on their planet, so why not the Alien. But he wasn't sure at all it was the answer. Yet, he didn't mind more and started to work. The control weren't intuitive at all. It didn't looked at all like an engineering console....nor to any tactical or command console he had ever seen. He couldn't find any interface that controlled shields or weapon.... He had however access to data pertaining power consumption. Still, it took him several seconds to really believe it was really power consumption that appeared on the screen. Spike and drop happened every second. Even the worst engineer could not succeed in creating such an unstable and unpredictable power consumption. He tried to figure out why the power was drained in such chaotic fashion, and by what. Again, the answer were rather limited. It seemed he had no access to any of the station reactors. As of yet, the only conclusion he could come up with was an Operation Console. But why would they place an operation console in the middle of nowhere. It should normally be located on the bridge or command center. It was an operation center but perhaps not with the usual function. What function, he still didn't know. "For now, I can only tell it is neither an engineering console, nor a command or tactical one. From the look of it, it is closer to an Operation Console, but with several different controls without access to most of the station system or network. It has direct access to the station power source in a state similar to EPS, so it certainly control something very important. Yet, I can't figure it out what, and I would really doubt it power shields or weapons. The power input is also very strange. It is so irregular with such huge spike that I am surprised the console didn't blow off. It seems it will take me more than a few seconds to figure out what this console is controlling. If I may, I would like to resume." (Reply Sanok) Tho'var stopped. He thought back at the odd thing he discovered. "Ambassador. Surely you are trained in xenolinguistic. It seems the console language is of a different nature from the language used by the alien. A more accurate translation could perhaps help me figure out how to use that console. You are certainly more competent than I am to use the Universal Translator to find common root in both languages and therefore help translate the console language." (Reply Turner) Tho'var resumed his duty. After testing different controls, he finally found one that was rather interesting. It kind of activated the sensor interface. The data provided was phenomenal. It was certainly a very sophisticated sensor. "Sir, I may have found something interesting. I just opened what seems to be the sensors interface. From the data it had previously collected, I can tell for sure it is not a low quality sensor. It is a rather sophisticated sensor network." (Reply Sanok) "It is not just a sensor system. Such sensors wouldn't cause the energy irregularity I have seen. But it is certainly linked to it somehow. From what I can tell, the sensors are looking for particular data. Chronitron, graviton and antigraviton, Exotic particles, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Theta Radiation....even tetryon." Tho'var paused. It was all there but he couldn't see the link between all those. "Sir, if you know a way to contact the Rosenante, Ensign Maddox could figure out in half the time I will." (Reply any) (Posted by Nick) ----- (Alien Station, Ensign (jg) Ailyn Andersen ACMO, Day 1, 2149) "look out" Jackson yelled as the fire lit up like an christmas tree of all the energy bolts flying around. The doors to both left and right were opened and on each there was a single alien with some kind of an energy rifle. They were trying to outflank them. Ailyn instinctively crouched down where the fire started, trying to hide her silhouette on the left side. Her leg still hurting like mad but she was able to walk and crouch. Unholstering her phaser, she brought the weapon at the elevation of the alien's torso, firing two quick shots in a burst, the alien on the right fell down on the floor. By this time, Jackson was lying down and he obviously took a shot at the one from the left side. Ailyn stood up, undusting her uniform as fast as she could and holstering her weapon. Then walked towards Jackson, falling down on her knees next, moving her hand to reach on the medpack on her belt. Jackson was unconscious. She brought the tricorder next to Jackson's wound, the surface was burnt however, it didn't seem there was any kind of more serious damage. The officer fell unconscious because of the kinetic hit of the weapon, but the weapon was not set on full power obviously, according to the damage. The weapon was not set on stun either. It didn't make sense why would someone use as low damage potentional settings and not stun instead, but this wasn't exactly time to think about that. Opening her bag, choosing the first compartment, she switched through several hypo fillings through her fingers before she found what she was looking for. It was the same thing she was using herself, an cocktail of Formazine and Dalaphaline. It was the strongest stimulant she could ever find, and that was exactly what she needed to wake up Jackson. (Reply: Jackson) "Welcome back, sir." she said, getting a second hypo ready. It was obvious Tom was in high pain no matter how hard he was trying to disguise it. She injected the wound directly, she knew the patient would feel an instant disorienting effect, but since Jackson was already barely conscious, she was sure he wouldn't mind. (Reply: Jackson) "That would be Hexatriol. Don't worry sir, the dizziness will go away after few minutes. In the meantime, I recommend we take a short brake and you relax." she explained, pressing hardly the gauzecloth. The tissue could be repaired completely on the ship, but she didn't have the necessary equipment with her at the time but what mattered is that she treated his burns. (Reply: Jackson, Any) (Posted by: Lani) ----- Mission: Through the Looking Glass Day 1 Stardate: 2414.06.11 (Rosenante, Bridge, Lt. Lan Torell, Day 1, 2150) Lan did not need to be telepathic to see how intensely Captain Soma was concentrating on what to do next. Lan wasn't a department head, but he had led engineering teams on missions, so he had a taste of what it was like to be responsible for people under him. That was small, compared to the responsibility a starship captain had. "Captain, long-range sensors have detected something." The tactical officer breaking the silence on the bridge, seemed like a shout. "It's still too far away to get a detailed scan, but it appears to be a fleet of ships." "How many ships?" said Soma. "A lot," said Tactical. "They'll be here in about twelve hours." The bridge grew silent again. Lan could sense the apprehension of the officers, but he could also sense that they were confident in themselves and in their captain. "Are communications with the away team still blocked?" said Soma. "Yes, sir," said Tactical. Soma turned to the person manning the security station, a small woman that looked more like a girl than a Starfleet Sec/Tac officer. "Ensign Signos, Ensign C'nell, take a shuttle to the station, locate the away teams, tell them about the incoming fleet, and find a way to communicate with the Rose." Soma paused for a beat. "And find our people and bring them home!" *reply Signos, C'nell) (posted by Bob.) ----- (Alien Station, Ambassador Joanne Turner, Day 1, 2151) Jo left Sanok on the catwalk above and began the Trek down the metal steps to the area below. The place was huge, going downward about five levels, though the aliens that had attacked them were on a higher level and not all the way down. That was also where Kevras and James were. The aliens must have taken the comm badges from Sanok and Kevras, as Sanok had taken Jo's badge and Kevras was using James' to try to translate the markings on the consoles and control panels. Kevras seemed to be unsure of what this place was, though he did state that the control panel he was using now was an ops station. After shouting up to Sanok to report this, Kevras looked at Jo. "Ambassador. Surely you are trained in xenolinguistic. It seems the console language is of a different nature from the language used by the alien. A more accurate translation could perhaps help me figure out how to use that console. You are certainly more competent than I am to use the Universal Translator to find common root in both languages, and therefore help translate the console language." Jo blinked in disbelief. It was true she had been educated in xenolinguistics, but that didn't mean she was an expert in operating the UT to figure out a completely new and unknown language. Whenever she had been given an assignment, the legwork had already been done; the languages, common greetings, and idioms, had already been researched and learned. All she had to do was familiarize herself with information. Still, she did have a knack for picking up languages. What would it hurt to try? "I'll see what I can do, Lieutenant," said Jo. "Commander Sanok has my comm badge, so I'll need to use the one you borrowed from Mister James here." Kevras handed Jo the badge and they both got to work. After several minutes, Kevras shouted another report up to Sanok. Chroniton, graviton, anti-graviton, exotic particles, alpha, beta, gamma, and theta radiation, tetryon. Jo wasn't a scientist, but these were terms that made her think, time travel. A chill went up her spine. "Sir, if you know a way to contact the Rosenante, Ensign Maddox could figure out in half the time I will." "Ensign Maddox is here as part of the rescue team," said Sanok from the catwalk above. "I have already given him instructions to come here." Concentrating on her work, Jo was actually beginning to get the hang of the language. Just a few more minutes, and she'd have it. Matrix refused to let his guard down. “Steve, try and contact Maddox and see when they are due to arrive please?” Tom ordered. Satisfied that the alien could not escape, Matrix turned to Tom. "Understood Tom." Matrix kneeled near the alien with his phaser trained center chest on the seated prisoner. =^= Matrix to Maddox. We're securing the large room down the great hallway. What is your ETA? =^= asked Matrix (Reply Maddox) (Posted by Steve) ----- (Alien Station, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras, Day 1, 2159) Ambassador Turner was of great help. When she finally succeeded in understanding some of the alien language ambiguity, it started to make sense. At first, the word 'µ¤¬£§£' had been translated 'conduit' but Turner suggestion that it could simply means something you move into : a conduit, corridor, etc. really leaded the way. It didn't took long for Tho'var to then figure out the missing piece. In this case, 'µ¤¬£§£' meant Portal. This console was monitoring the Portal. "Thank you Ambassador for your help. I believe I got it. If I am not mistaken, this room has been created to monitor and perhaps study the portal." That was why they were gathering data about chronitron, radiation, tetryon. Vortex or wormhole or portal were known to be a link between two points of subspace. The exchange or attraction of contraries (matter-antimatter, positive-negative energy, fold-unfold space, etc.) explained all the gravitron, antigravitron, radiations, chronitrons, etc. There were so many forces and phenomena at play not even the ingenuity of Starfleet scientists had succeeded in predicting the behavior of wormholes. No wonder the Bajoran Wormhole had been a scientific center of attraction. In fact,it would not be surprising if those aliens had developed the same scientific curiosity. But as soon as Tho'var started to believe he got an answer, as soon he realized he was still far from understanding what they were really doing. Sensors alone wouldn't require that much power, nor would it explain the irregularity in the console power input. The only explanation he could get was that the wormhole was draining the station power when they used the sensor. Yet, why would that be? ~Interference?~ he wondered. But according to the data the console was collecting, the interference was mostly regular, so there was no immediate correlation between the interference and the power consumption. ~Time Dilatation~ it was a possibility that could be easily verified....well, as soon as he understood how to use the console to determine how much subspace was folding or unfolding...or, in simpler words, if the Cochrane factor that could be attributed to the subspace between the station and the Wormhole was the same everywhere and if it was regular or irregular. On that part however, he knew he needed Maddox to help him adjust the sensors. There was still a lot he needed to figure out, and somehow, he wasn't sure it was a very good idea to stay in here too long. As short-handed as they may be, those aliens had certainly still a few men to send their way. The tactical part was Sanok to figure out. Tho'var had to work on the console until his superior told him otherwise. Still, he was curious about what Sanok would say or not say... he was all ears....and antennas. Keeping an eye on all the coming and going, the stress level was high for everyone on the ship. She had made the decision to stay behind in case an emergency team was needed. She was glad when the call came for her and a new ensign to the Rosenante to head to the shuttle bay to find their lost crew mates and bring them back. What was unsettling was the large fleet of ships that was also heading in there direction. Once Captain Soma gave the order she wasted no time vacating her station, which was quickly occupied by another bridge officer till another from Security could take her place. Jessica enter the turbo lift right behind the newcomer to the ship, Ensign C'nell was his name if she heard right. The lift was quite neither one seemed much for small talk, with Jessica it seemed the more she opened up to people the more people found out about Lily and then they either wanted nothing to do with her or looked at her like some kind of science experiment gone wrong. But there was one person with a past similar to hers who looked at her like a person other than a freak, and that thought brought her a small measure of contentment. The door to the turbo lift slide open and Jessica slid out, turning to C'nell "I'm going to head to Security and the armory I think it wise to be well armed and stocked before we venture out. I'll meet you at shuttle bay 2 in 15min." ( reply C'nell ) Jessica nodded, turned and went about her business. But everyone on the Rosenante who had been there for any length of time knew that to make such an assumption would be a mistake. Again the signs of a lightweight armored body suit could be seen from under her uniform. Around her slender waist were three hand phasers, and two phase rifles locked into the holder across her back. That is what could easily could be seen, any that knew her also knew that somewhere on her person would be a array of knives and other bladed weapons. Around her head was her tactical circlet, a common place with her, she rarely left the ship with out it. She entered the ship and dropped two duffel bags loaded with extra weapons, ammo cells, explosives, medical supplies, whatever she thought they might need or could turn out being useful. If she could make it fit she brought it. She looked to her traveling partner and asked. "Ready?" He was happy to be serving with her, it seemed that somehow he had allowed this women through his solid sheild of logical and coldness "I am ready, I shall navigate, We shall have a short time before arrival or possibly little time it is difficult with wormholes" said C'Nell and then he fell silent, he didnt want to talk he didnt want to accept emotion. As they headed toward the remainder of the AWAY Team , Tom’s mind began to review the mission, He and Doc Anderson had been injured and for what? He asked himself. The Grissom doubts were starting to creep back into his conscious mind. He could see the shuttle exploding right before his eyes. (Reply Jessica and Rauschen) (Posted by Nathan) ----- (Alien Station - Ensign (jg) Ailyn Andersen ACMO Day 1 - 2244) They were on the station for some hours and they accomplished little - even knowing a location of their crew members meant little if they had to fight their way to them. The occupants of the station could quickly come to a conclusion exactly why the away team is here - and what they're up to. Andersen went through a capture and short interrogation, but despite seeing the missing members on the computer console, she still could not know what really happened to them. Over the course of the long walk following Jackson, she came to many conclusions. First thing was there was an obvious common connection, telepathy. The second was a little bit more logical conclusion based on the observation of the aliens. They seemed not very versed in their own technology. As the crew slowly walked Andersen thought about the current situation outside-of-box. With an agenda for or against telepathy creatures, for whatever reason they would need them, and the technology behind their agenda by their station, they need to be stopped. And there were no one else that could do it. Would they just rescue their crew and the rest of the crew of the Tesla and would leave, giving up the enormous station to the aliens, knowing what they can do with it - or would they stop them from ever abducting others? Ailyn was never really fond of putting the Starfleet hands in the matters of other races. It somehow always felt they were playing the police faction, stating what's good and what's bad - but from their own point of view. It was always about what Starfleet thinks is good for someone, not really what is good for that someone. More over, in the end it would never really end well. Sometimes it seemed the admiralty would maybe even be eager for the race in question to rebel or attack to further justify the actions taken against them. It could quickly spin into a game of egos and personal agendas, justified by stating the planets and races of the Federation are safe. Being safe is very relative, and sometimes people would be unsafe from the very people stating they're making them safe. She knew very well that politics is the real way how to wage wars. To conquer someone without spending resources on the war machines, to push them into a situation where their own hungry people would beg for aid. After all, what is an power without the blind trust of it's people. Maybe today would be a day like this. Maybe the fate would have it that the away team would interfere in another race's ways. Many times, Andersen would believe it's unjustifiable, and there would be needed some thinking of what an impact would that decision make. Ailyn thanked the universe in herself for not being a person to make that call. But she also thought something like that was needed. She believed that the aliens need to be stopped, because as they abducted members of two Starfleet vessels, they can do so again with any race, at any time. Would it be justifiable in this case? Perhaps even in the history many men thought their agendas were justifiable, believing they were working for a higher cause. Human nature is like that, that they do not really see the consequences of their own actions. It is something that has plagued people in command for thousands of years. Perhaps they could somehow stop the aliens of ever abducting anyone else - without resorting to destroying them all... or their racial identity. Andersen started doubting her call to make herself a prey, it revealed very little in turn the station inhabitants were alerted to their presence. She failed, again. After a while, they were in front of the room - Jackson asked if anyone saw any aliens, although it would be pretty obvious for all if they were spotted. "ok here's what is going to happen. I'm going in first and once I make sure things are safe - the rest of you enter." he said Andersen nodded and got her phaser ready. This time there were only two sides where they could be attacked, and there was nothing in the corridor in front of the room to be used for cover, they were wide open for the attack. Jackson was getting inside himself, but Andersen thought that wasn't a good idea - they could have all gotten inside together, checking the room sides one by one and watching backs in case they are surprised, but she also understood Jackson wanted to check it out himself and more then likely did not want to endanger anyone of the away team. Jackson got in... the doors shutting down after him, but she couldn't hear anything happening. She gave a look to the other guys around her, eyeing the doors as if she's telling them she thinks they should really check it out. Perhaps she was just getting paranoid, but if there was something bad to happen next, she didn't want the whole team to depend on her bad aiming. She turned around, watching the way they came from, leaving the room behind her for others to go into the room. (Reply: Any) (Posted by: Lani) ----- (Alien Station, FO/CSec Lt. Cmdr. Sanok, Day 1, 2245) While Turner was helping Kevras below, with James keeping watch, Sanok guarded the door from the catwalk. Things were quiet, which made him feel more and more that there were a small number of aliens manning the station. Unless there was a sophisticated computer system capable of running the station, and thus limiting the personnel needed to do so, it was illogical. There had to be some other reason. In any case, other things were on his mind. The images that were in Sanok's mind from being in the mind probe chair, had been just out of his range of perception. He had tried bringing them to the forefront, using every mental technique he knew. At first, nothing had worked, which frustrated him; a disagreeable affect from once living with his emotions. Because of his persistence, he finally knew what the images were and what they meant. There was both good and bad news. He knew where the Tesla crew were being held. He also knew who the aliens were and the reasons they had done the things they had. They had to be stopped, and if it took sacrificing both the Rosenante and Tesla crews, then that's what would be done. Sanok began to think about Ben. There was the possibility he would never see his friend again. If that turned out to be the case, Ben would never know what happened or why. It was also disagreeable that he may not be there for Ben's and Marah's wedding. He would need to find a way to stop the Hikani, and save everyone else. A sound brought Sanok out of his reverie. The door was opening. Pressing himself against the wall, he saw a figure enter. Moving his weapon, Sanok pressed it against the back of the person's head. The person, who Sanok recognized, had frozen in place. "It is most agreeable to see you, Mister Jackson," said Sanok, lowering his weapon. "Commander, it is good to see you as well" Tom answered. Tom signaled for the others of his team to join them. Jackson outlined their actions to date. " Dr. Anderson volunteered to act as bait. She made herself resemble a prisoner. Dr. Anderson had a transponder implanted on her. Our plan was to have her to be taken prisoner by the aliens. We were a few meters behind her" Tom paused to allow questions. (Reply: Any Present) Jackson explained further. "We encountered an alien patrol and were briefly engaged in a firefight " Tom paused and unconsciously touched the area of his wound. "Sir, the weapons of the station and the fleet of ships is well beyond what the shuttle can handle. I'm reconfiguring the phasers, shields and targeting vectors. I figure if the phasers are set to a point to just intercept and destroy incoming fire. We can reroute the extra energy into shields or other needed systems. Also I'm gonna focus the targeting vectors on the area on the station were weapon placements would be most likely. That should cut targeting time significantly." (reply Rashen, C'Nell iyw) Jessica and Lily knew that even if the beam from worm hole generator could hide their approach there would be a small measure of time that they would be seen on sensor. The fact was even if the other shuttles made it to the station. If the race that held the station reconfigured their sensors even the worm hole generator would not save them. The fleet of oncoming ships were another concern but they were still far enough away that the Nova should be able to slip by unseen. But as they were heading ever closer to the station it would complicate an escape attempts. 'You know this could be a one way mission.' Lily stated with in the confines of Jessica's mind. 'It's a situation we've been in before' Jessica answered to her alter ego. 'Yes, but how many times do you think you can cheat death.' came the respond. 'We've made a career of cheating death, I will save has many as I can for the blood that covers my hands, or I will die trying.' the tone of Jessica's inner monologue was unforgiving, with no sign of weakness. 'Then together we will succeed, or die.' Lily spoke as Jessica gave away some of the hold she carried over herself, she would need the added speed, training, and emotional distance that the assassin that lived with in would give. An evil grin spead across their lips as the subtle changes that showed Lily's influence. The apperance of Silver streaks in her Raven black hair, her left eye taking on its Lavender tone shielded behind the monocle of the tactical circlet. Starfleet did not kill its cadets (even if the KDF did). Danger though was implyed in the Mandate of Starfleet. He would kill if it proved needed. He would die if it was needed. But then the words of his adoptive earth mother came to him "Be careful Thomas, I would hate to lose you". At the time he had told her that this was unneeded emotions. He wouldnt come to harm. Once the shuttle had gotten underway and the small team was enroute to rendezvous with the other teams from the Rosenante, Chance took a moment to settle in at the operations station. He had watched C’Nell move as if he would ask questions, but then started concentrating on his piloting as if changing his mind. After seeing the subtle changes in Signos, Raschen was one of the very few, if not only, ones that could sympathize with Jessica and Lily’s plight. After all, he himself had an alter ego that was by far more dangerous than the “daily” person he allowed everyone to interact with. In a funny sort of way, he could also sympathize with the young Vulcan. He had been in his shoes himself as a young man sitting at the helm of his Bounty Hunter Grandfather’s ship the S.S. Bounty. At the time, Chance had been trying to act more confident than he felt. And yet, he insisted on proving himself to everyone on that crew. After some time, the Operations and Tactical consoles started sounding alarms. She could almost feel a presence watching them but this might only be the stims wearing off. Getting inside, she saw Sanok and Jackson talking. It seemed the first officer had a slightly weathered look but given the thought of what might he gone through, it came to no surprise. Jackson seemed to brief First Officer of the details. (Reply: Sanok) " Doctor, let us know of your findings so far please" Jackson asked. "It would seem the aliens use the some kind of mind probing technology to get the information from their victims. I'm worried what kind of damage these devices could make. I also believe there is an obvious common connection to the abductings. I believe we are dealing with a group of warriors with an questionable mental health. I sincerely believe they have a high fear and post-fear hatred towards telepathy." she stopped while gazing at Sanok who seemed to be at peace with his surroundings and with the whole situation. Andersen envied this, if only she could accept things with such calmness. "As Lieutenant Jackson already explained, while I was interrogated, I was asked about others with telepathic capabilities. I do not know from where this fear and hatred comes from, but I definitely believe they are ready to do anything for their cause." she explained. Andersen looked at the faces of Sanok and Jackson taking in the info she just told them. Still he found a quiet corner of the make-shift base and continued his work to translate the systems of the station's computers and unlock more areas of control, no control was the wrong word. Diplomacy was more the correct term, Andrew couldn't force the computer to really do anything. It was more like he asked the computer politely and it acquiesced. He just needed to know how to ask. She understood C'Nell's concern over his first away mission, it could turn out to be a very dangerous one. Jessica remembered the hard missions of her past and how many times she pushed the limits of her body beyond the breaking point. She remembered being battered, broken, wounded, near death, and surrounded by the the most feared in space and still she fought. How many borg did she kill during that mission, she had lost count. Rashen's voice cut though the shuttle calling to her.“Jess, go and prep us some EV suits. I have a hunch we will be going for a walk” Jess... No one had ever spoken to her in such a friendly way in a long time, not since Eian. Sanok, Day 1, 2310) Everyone had finally arrived and given a report, with the one from Doctor Andersen confirming what he had sensed from the images in his mind. The alien race controlling the space station, the Hikani, hated telepaths with a fervor beyond even the emotions of primitive Vulcans. What horrible things had been done to them to cause such hatred? "I need someone who outranks me," said Maddox. "Lieutenant Jackson or Commander Sanok, over here, please." Maddox didn't say what he needed, but since the Science Officer was still working on the station computer system, Sanok decided Matrix should help. "Mister Matrix, please assist Mister Maddox." When the Chief Engineer acknowledged the order and moved to help Maddox, Sanok gathered Jackson, Allen, James, Andersen, Turner, and Gomez at the top of the catwalk, near the entrance. "To save time, I will make this short," said Sanok. "Kevras and I were captured because we have telepathic abilities. We were placed in a mind probe chair, and the occupants of this station, the Hikani, tried to deceive us into revealing the locations of telepathic races in the Federation. They failed, but the affects of the probe were quite exhausting. It also left images in my mind that took me time to interpret. "The Hikani have an intense hatred for all telepaths. It is so strong, they have launched a crusade, using the power of this station, in order to destroy them." He paused to observe everyone's reaction. "They have great resources and a very large number of soldiers. They are not ready yet to attack the Federation, but they are preparing. It is our duty to stop them. I also know where the Tesla crew is being held. "Kevras, Maddox, and Matrix will remain here to work on disabling the portal generator. The rest of us will rescue the Tesla crew and return here. If we are able to disable the portal and still have time to escape, we will do so. If not...." His voice trailed off. "Does anyone have anything to say?" (reply any) (posted by Bob B.)
